2008 CCWHA Championship Series Preview

The Central Collegiate Women’s Hockey Association Championship Series in Findlay, OH. this upcoming weekend is sure to provide excitement to any hockey fan. There will be a 6th vs. 7th place game Friday afternoon to determine which team will get to fight for their chance in the league playoffs. With the addition of three new teams this year, the league championship should prove to be a very competitive weekend!
 
Lindenwood (#1 CCWHA, #1 ACHA) finished the CCWHA regular season without a loss in their first year in our league! Lindenwood will look to their top scorers Hannah Kat (50 points in the ACHA), Nathalie Larson (47 Points ACHA) and Ashley Boye (44 points ACHA) to lead them to a victory!
 
Michigan State (#2 CCWHA, #6 ACHA) jumped up from the 3rd spot in the second to last weekend before league rankings with a win over #5 ACHA ranked Michigan Wolverines. Their only losses in league play were to Lindenwood early on in the season.
 
Michigan (#3 CCWHA, #7 ACHA) will attempt to bounce back after 2 losses to Michigan State in a very important weekend just prior to rankings. The girls come in with two additional losses to Lindenwood but are ready to show the CCWHA that they can do anything.

Western Michigan (#4 CCWHA, #10 ACHA) comes into the league tournament at .500 and ready to put it all in this weekend. After a tie and a loss to the Wolverines this past weekend, Western will show up ready to play when the two teams have a rematch Friday at 6pm.

Northern Michigan (#5 CCWHA, #11 ACHA) started the season down a rocky road with two tough losses to Lindenwood and again to Michigan, but began to bounce back beating Ohio State, Grand Valley and splitting the series with Western Michigan. The Wildcats have made the ACHA tournament this year and are ready to use the CCWHA tournament as a warmup heading in to nationals!

Ohio State (#6 CCWHA, #13 ACHA) are ready to come out and play their hardest at this year's league tournament. The Buckeyes have only two wins this year in league play but aren't ready to give in yet. Watch out for Ohio State to be a fiesty team that won't let up until it's all said and done. The Buckeyes starts off leagues with a play-in game against Grand Valley State at 2pm on Friday afternoon.

Grand Valley State  (#7 CCWHA) are excited to enter their first CCWHA league tournament. This being the GVSU Lakers first year as a competitive squad and the first year in our league, the girls are very excited about this upcoming weekend. Watch out for the Lakers in their first game against Ohio State at 2pm on Friday afternoon!
